Havills are a family run Electrical Retailer with an outstanding reputation for customer service. Our two shops on the outskirts of Exeter and one in Honiton, serve the local communities.

We are members of a European Independent Electrical Buying Group, which gives us the power of combined purchasing and access to a huge range of Home Entertainment and Domestic Appliances. Our History

Havills was founded in 1959… before the days of colour television… by Peter and Norma Havill, and is a locally based audio, visual and domestic appliance retailer with two shops. Two are located on the outskirts of Exeter, the original shop in Alphington and the second in Topsham, opened in 1994 by their son Martin who now runs the business. A third shop has recently been opened in the nearby town of Honiton.

For over 50 years we have worked to earn and maintain our customers' trust and respect which has been rewarded by repeat custom and personal recommendation. Our professionalism, experience and reputation for old fashioned personal service have helped us achieve this goal.

Continual Improvement

A strong emphasis on weekly training helps us to keep abreast of the constant changes in technology, necessary to maintain our high standards of customer service. This policy of continuously improving our personnel was rewarded with “Investors in People” recognition in 2003 and has been retained ever since.

Our People

We believe our strength as an independent retailer lies in our loyal and committed team, which includes three key people who share a wealth of over 90 years' industry experience. Known locally as "Your friendly electrical shop" we give helpful and knowledgeable advice to provide customers' with product to suit their budget and requirements, in a relaxed 'no pressure' environment.

Martin Havill with Clifford and Trevor

	Martin Havill Hello my name is Martin, otherwise known as "the boss". My working life began in architectural practices before joining my parents in the family business in 1983. This experience of a professional environment I use in my everyday principles of operating a business. Away from work I relax by spending time with my family and keep fit through walking, running, swimming and cycling. At other times I plug myself into my Ipod to listen to music (while my wife watches soaps and reality TV programmes!)
	Trevor Isaacs Hi I'm Trevor. I have been working at Havills for 36 years starting in the workshop servicing and repairing, progressing on to installations. As the years have past you will now find me on the shop floor advising customers on the products that best suit their needs. I look forward to seeing you soon.
	Clifford Hamstead Hi I am Clifford. I started work with Havills in 1981 as a trainee service engineer, attending day release to achieve my City and Guilds. From 1995 I managed the Topsham shop returning to Exeter in 2002 to split my time between the Alphington and St Thomas shops. Following the closure of St Thomas I returned to Alphington to be involved in the daily running of the business. Over the years I have been fortunate to meet some wonderful people and enjoy the ever changing challenges this business presents. Outside of work I enjoy my holidays, most of which are spent abroad, when I indulge my passion for eating and drinking. My leisure time is spent with family, playing golf, deep sea fishing and at my allotment.
	Malcolm Spry Hello I'm Malcolm and have been responsible for running the Topsham shop since 2003. I use my 30 years experience in sales and customer care to provide Topsham customers with friendly service and knowledgeable advice. In my spare time I take an interest in mobile phones, computers and the latest technology.
	Bob Hunt Hi I'm Bob and I've worked for Havills since 2003 as an installer and occasional salesman. It's always a joy to see regular customers and meet new. I am married with 2 sons and am also a grandad. I have several hobbies which include DIY, walking, skiing and outdoor pursuits.
	Quintin Gulliver Hello my name is Quintin, more commonly known as "Q". I started at Havills in 2003 as an installer's assistant, gaining experience to become an installer in my own right and with sufficient knowledge to provide shop cover. When I'm not at work I like to listen to "alternative" music and spend time with my friends. Please wave at me when you see me in the van!
